Public transportation within the Town of Leesburg is operated by Loudoun County Transit and Commuter Services, including Transit on Demand, commuter buses, local bus service, the free Leesburg Safe-T-Ride, and paratransit service for people with disabilities. 


Transit on Demand

Loudoun County has launched a free Transit on Demand service within the Town of Leesburg. 

This flexible, app-based service operates in real time, allowing riders to request fare-free rides within a defined 5-to-6-mile service area within the Leesburg zone.

Using a smartphone app called LC Transit On Demand, or by phone, passengers can request rides that offer short wait times and convenient pickup and drop-off locations near their starting point and destination. The Transit On Demand service is available weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Commuter Bus Service

Loudoun County Transit operates rush hour bus service from park & ride lots in Loudoun County (including the Leesburg Park & Ride on Sycolin Road) to West Falls Church, Rosslyn, the Pentagon and Washington DC.  For complete information, please visit the Loudoun County Commuter Services webpage.


Bus Route Map 2020Local Bus Service

MV Transportation is the operator of the local bus service in Leesburg and eastern Loudoun County, under a contract with Loudoun County. Four routes serve Leesburg:

All routes connect at the Loudoun County Government Center, which is also a transfer point for the Purcellville Connector, operated by Virginia Regional Transit.

All routes operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday and Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., except for Route 70. Route 70 operates from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays and Sundays from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.

All local buses and paratransit services are free.

Safe-T-Ride route map 2016Leesburg Safe-T-Ride

Don't risk crossing on foot . . . take the bus! The Leesburg Safe-T-Ride is a free shuttle providing continuous service between locations on the east and west sides of the Route 15 Bypass. The Safe-T-Ride operates seven days a week:

Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Stops include the Shenandoah Building, Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets, Target and the Battlefield Shopping Center. The Safe-T-Ride map is available for download as a PDF.


Paratransit Service
