Keep Leesburg Beautiful logoKeep Leesburg Beautiful is a month-long opportunity throughout April each year for businesses, residents and community groups to come together to make Leesburg a cleaner place for all.

Youth groups, community organizations, churches, businesses, homeowners associations, families, and individuals are encouraged to participate.  Keep Leesburg Beautiful is a great opportunity for anyone who needs to complete community service hours or volunteer experience.

The Town provides safety vests, gloves, and trash bags. Volunteers head out into neighborhoods to pickup litter or perform other clean up efforts and beautification projects. Volunteers report when and where they leave their filled bags. The Town handles collection of filled bags and other items.

Town Manager Kaj Dentler and Vice Mayor Kelly Burk ready for KLB ChallengeGolden Trash Can Award
Each year, the Town Council and Staff hold a clean-up challenge to see which group can collect the most trash. Last year they collected a total of 1020 lbs of trash and debris. Who will take home the coveted award this year?

Gather your friends, family, neighbors or co-workers and then select an area of Leesburg you would like to clean up or beautify. You can choose to work in your own neighborhood or choose a particular spot in town you think needs attention. We can also make suggestions for cleanup locations and help get permission from property owners (i.e., shopping centers) to work on their property. Main areas of focus for Keep Leesburg Beautiful projects throughout the Town include trash pickup along Town streets, stream cleanup and storm drain marking.

Once again this year, we are seeking volunteers to assist with storm drain marker inventory and condition assessments. With over 6,000 storm sewer inlets in the Town of Leesburg, it would be extremely difficult for our inspection staff to visually check each inlet on a regular basis. We are asking for volunteers to help keep us updated on conditions of inlets in their neighborhoods and around town. By just walking your neighborhood and noting if storm sewer inlets have a storm drain marker and what condition they are in, you are providing us with valuable information about our storm sewer system. We will provide a map with inlet locations and a checklist. Once you have completed your inventory, just email or fax us the form. If you notice inlets in need of repair, missing storm drain markers, or those that may be blocked with vegetation or trash, our Street Division can be notified to begin the work order for that location. We have an online form for residents to use year-round to notify us of any issues with storm sewer inlets.
