Police patch collecting is a very popular and interesting hobby. Today, as law enforcement agencies establish a presence on the Internet, they immediately become more accessible to a much wider population – the world. The Leesburg Police Department has and continues to receive requests for patches and uniform items literally from all around the world.
Unfortunately, due to security concerns which arose subsequent to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and due to Leesburg’s proximity to our nation’s Capitol, as well as numerous security sensitive sites to which we provide primary police response or mutual aid response, we must strictly control access to official uniform items such as badges and shoulder patches.
On behalf of Chief Gregory Brown and the men and women of the Leesburg Police Department, we regret not being able to honor your request and hope that you will understand the reasons we must decline. We also very much appreciate your interest and thank you for your correspondence.
