 Project Overview 

The H-2 Historic Corridor Review is a collaborative effort between  the Board of Architectural Review and the Planning Commission to formulate a recommendation to the Town Council regarding the future of the H-2 Historic Corridor.  Per Council's Resolution 2016-136, staff is to work with both the BAR and Planning Commission to form a short term working group consisting of two representatives from both bodies to accomplish the following objectives:

  • Develop recommendations for how to improve the existing   H-2 Design Guidelines
  • Consider the Guidelines in the context of the East Market Street Small Area Plan
  • Take stakeholder input on ways to improve the Guidelines
  • Consider ways to streamline the design review process using updated Guidelines or under a substitute approach

Current Status

On February 27, 2018 the Leesburg Town Council adopted Resolution 2018-028 to replace the existing H-2 Corridor Overlay District and Design Guidelines with a new Gateway District and initiated amendments to the Zoning Ordinance and the creation of a Gateway District Streetscape Enhancement Plan.  Staff has been actively working with the H-2 Working Group members as well as our outside contractors to draft the Gateway District guidelines for presentation to the Town Council.
