Independence Day Parade - 10:00 a.m.

Start the holiday by showing your patriotic spirit at the annual Independence Day Parade, held through Historic Downtown Leesburg beginning at 10 am. The parade will start at Ida Lee Park, travel down King Street and conclude at Fairfax Street. Put on your patriotic best and join your friends and neighbors to celebrate the birthday of the United States! This year’s parade will also feature the 11th annual Patriot’s Cup Competition, sponsored by the Loudoun Now newspaper. This award will go to the best parade entry; winners’ names will be engraved on the Patriot Cup, which will be on display at Town Hall for the remainder of the year.

Back this year is the American Originals Fife and Drum Corps, sponsored by Toth Financial. This traditional corps adds a patriotic sound to the parade and is a favorite among parade viewers. The group will perform at the intersection of King and Market Street as a prelude to the parade. Plan to arrive downtown by 9:45 am to hear the fife and drums before the parade kicks off.

Join the Parade! If you are interested in participating in the parade, entry is free!  Applications can be found here or contact Ida Lee Park Recreation Center at 703-777-1368 for a hard copy. King Street will close to through-traffic at 9:30 am in preparation for the parade. Downtown streets will re-open at approximately 11:30 am.

Concert & Fireworks at Ida Lee Park

Celebrate America’s big day at Ida Lee Park and enjoy a night of great music! The Free is an upscale party band that blends modern style and rootsy charm. The Free hail from the South but are not a Southern rock band, a distinction that becomes obvious as soon as the band takes the stage. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and music starts at 6:30 p.m., so be sure to arrive early and grab a spot for a full night of fun, food, and terrific music. A full food court will be onsite with funnel cakes, ice cream, burgers, hot dogs, and so much more.

The biggest bang of the evening begins at 9:30 p.m. when the largest fireworks show in the region will light up the sky. Choreographed to patriotic music, this light show is not to be missed. Parking is available at the interior lots off Ida Lee Drive, and the festival field parking off King Street. The Town of Leesburg staff will work hard to ensure that as many vehicles as possible are parked in the park, so attendees are asked to be patient while waiting to enter and exit. The Town also reminds our guests to use designated crosswalks. A parking map can be downloaded here.

Leesburg Fire and Rescue Volunteers will be on site to provide medical assistance if needed. Coolers and large bags are permitted but will be checked at gate entrances. Pets, alcohol, glass bottles and personal fireworks (including sparklers) are not permitted. In the event of a cancellation due to weather, fireworks will be rescheduled for July 5th at 9:30pm. No other activities will be rescheduled. Please note: Every effort will be made to hold the event on it's scheduled date. The start time of the fireworks may be adjusted to avoid incoming rain and/or severe weather.

For more information about the Independence Day Celebration, please contact the Events Coordinator or Ida Lee Park Recreation Center at 703-777-1368.

Please remember that the following items are prohibited. All bags and coolers will be subject to inspection upon entering the festival area:
