Project Description: A new water storage tank was recently constructed adjacent to Fort Evans Plaza II shopping center, near the intersection of Battlefield Parkway and Fort Evans Road. This 1.5 million gallon elevated water storage tank is located adjacent to and is similar in design to the existing Carr Tank.
The need for additional water storage was identified in the 1987 Town of Leesburg Water-Sewer Master Plan. The additional storage was necessary to comply with the Virginia Department of Health's regulations regarding provision of emergency storage as the Town's population increases. The additional storage also improves the water system's reliability, fire and residential flow rates, and provides a means for taking tanks out of service for routine maintenance.
A site selection study, completed in 2002, recommended that the new tank be constructed adjacent to the existing Carr Tank.
Current Status: The tank was completed in September 2009.
