A local criminal history check can be obtained for criminal arrests made by the Leesburg, Virginia Police Department for the time-period of February 2009 - present.
The Leesburg Police Department currently only processes background check requests in-person.
To expedite the process, please complete a LPD Criminal History Record Request form (form updated 1/11/2023) prior to making your in-person request. You will be required to provide two forms of identification. One form of identification must be a government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, military ID or alien resident card) and the other must be a U.S. Social Security card or birth certificate. Foreign birth certificates must be accompanied by a professional translation.
Background check investigators/contractors must submit their own identification, documentation of their employer or agency on whose behalf they are acting, as well as written authorization from the person whose report they are seeking to obtain.
Please note that the Leesburg Police Department will not include any information regarding criminal history related to simple possession of marijuana in compliance with Virginia Code Section 19.2-389.3(A). If you are representing an entity that believes it is entitled to this information under one of the exceptions set forth in Virginia Code Section 19.2-389.3(A)(i) thru (xii), you must state in the email through which you submit this Information Request (and any accompanying documents) who you represent and the exception under which you are entitled to seek disclosure of such criminal history related to marijuana possession.
