About the Program

The Leesburg Police Department’s School Resource Officer (SRO) Program is a collaborative partnership between our officers, Loudoun County Public Schools, students, parents, and educators. The program is designed to create a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment for all students while fostering trust and open communication between law enforcement and our youth.

The Role of an Officer

SROs are specially trained officers assigned to Leesburg’s public middle and high schools. Their role goes beyond law enforcement—they serve as mentors, educators, and resources for students, staff, and families. SROs work proactively to prevent crime, address safety concerns, provide classroom presentations on topics such as internet safety, substance abuse prevention, and conflict resolution, and assist in developing emergency preparedness plans.

How We Help the Community

Through daily interaction in the school community, our SROs build meaningful relationships with students, helping them make positive life choices while promoting respect, accountability, and responsibility.
