About the Program
The Leesburg Police Department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) is a highly trained, specialized unit prepared toERT respond to critical incidents that require advanced tactics, coordination, and rapid decision-making. The team exists to address high-risk situations while prioritizing the safety of the public, officers, and involved individuals.

The Role of the Team
ERT members receive extensive training in tactical operations, high-risk warrant service, armed suspect response, and crisis management. The team is activated during incidents such as barricaded subjects, armed confrontations, and other situations that exceed routine patrol capabilities. While ERT members maintain their regular assignments, they are equipped to deploy quickly when specialized expertise is required.

How We Help the Community
By providing a disciplined and professional response to the most dangerous and complex incidents, ERT reduces risk, supports frontline officers, and helps bring critical situations to a safe resolution. The team’s emphasis on preparation, coordination, and controlled response strengthens the department’s ability to protect lives and maintain public safety during emergencies.
