Interested in a Career in Law Enforcement?

Leesburg Police Department’s Public Safety Cadets Program welcomes young adults (ages 14 - 20) who are interested in learning police practices and sciences to assist them with developing the skills and leadership qualities needed for a lasting career in public service. The Cadets serve their community by providing knowledge, skills, and practical experiences through education and training delivered by sworn officers and employees of the Leesburg Police Department. These Cadets build character, physical fitness, respect for the rule of the law, and human and civil rights. The Cadet program meets monthly at the Leesburg Police Department or at other local training sites. Cadets have the opportunity to participate in special events and community activities, such as National Night Out, Leesburg's July 4th parade and fireworks, the Kiwanis Halloween Parade, and the Leesburg Holiday Parade.

Areas of instruction include, but are not limited to:

• Criminal Investigations
• Court Room Testimony
• Crime Scene Processing
• Patrol Functions
• Police Technologies
• Crash Investigations
• Volunteering through Community Events

Cadets are expected to be responsible and dedicated to the Leesburg Police Department and the community.

Public Safety Cadets Membership Requirements:

• Be 14 -20 years of age.
• Submit an interest email to MDrogin@Leesburgva.gov.
• Complete an application & Public Safety Cadets - Agreement and Legal Waiver Form
• Complete an interview with the Cadet Program's leadership.
• Be able and willing to attend regular meetings and special events.
