The Role of the FTO Program
New officers are paired with experienced, specially trained Field Training Officers who provide daily instruction, evaluation, and mentorship. FTOs guide recruits through real-world patrol duties, emphasizing department policies, legal standards, officer safety, decision-making, and community engagement. The program establishes consistent performance expectations while helping new officers transition from the academy to active service.

How We Help the Community
By ensuring that officers are thoroughly trained, properly evaluated, and prepared for the demands of the profession, the FTO Program promotes accountability, professionalism, and high-quality policing. This commitment to comprehensive training helps build public trust and ensures that officers are ready to serve the community with competence and integrity.
