About the Division
The Leesburg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for investigating serious and complex criminal offenses that require specialized expertise, extended casework, and advanced investigative methods. The division supports victims, identifies offenders, and works to resolve cases through thorough, professional, and legally sound investigations.
The Role of the Division
CID detectives conduct in-depth investigations involving major crimes, financial offenses, and technology-based cases. Detectives utilize forensic analysis, interviews, surveillance, digital evidence, and intelligence-driven strategies to develop cases for prosecution. The division works closely with patrol, specialized units, prosecutors, and regional partners to ensure coordinated and effective case resolution.
