Preservation Day at Thomas Balch Library 

The Town of Leesburg’s Preservation Team is pleased to announce it’s a continuation of last year’s “Preservation Day,” to be held on Friday, May 15th at the Thomas Balch Library.

This special event will feature three brief sessions designed for anyone interested in learning more about Leesburg’s historic district, Leesburg and Loudoun County at the time of the signing of the Declaration of Independence (in honor of that signing’s 250^th anniversary this year) and the ins and outs of historic masonry which will include a hands-on activity.

Preservation Manager Lauren Murphy explained that the goal of “Preservation Day” is to educate and engage the public on the importance of protecting and celebrating the Town’s rich historical, architectural, and cultural heritage.

“May is national historic preservation month, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than by spending the morning at Thomas Balch Library, a beautiful historic structure, helping residents and business owners learn a little more about our Historic District, and maybe even following that up with lunch at one of our great downtown restaurants,” Murphy said.

Sessions will begin at 10am and will end around lunch time.  Attendees will receive a tote bag highlighting historic buildings around town.
