Zoning Ordinance Rewrite
The Town has engaged Kendig Keast Collaborative as consultants for a comprehensive rewrite of the Zoning Ordinance. Main goals of the rewrite include:
- Facilitating implementation of the Legacy Leesburg Town Plan, adopted by the Town Council in March 2022;
- Compliance with modern zoning practices;
- Codification as part of the Town Code;
- Streamlined land development processes; and
- A user-friendly, interactive online zoning platform.
The last comprehensive update of the Zoning Ordinance was adopted in February 2003.
The rewrite project began in June 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2026.
Throughout the process, there will be numerous opportunities for public input and feedback. Public meetings, work sessions, and open houses dedicated to the Zoning Ordinance Rewrite will be posted below, as well as on the main public meetings calendar on the Town website, in the lobby of Town Hall, and on the Town's social media sites. The public is encouraged to review and comment online through the end of December 2025.
