Traffic Signal - Sycolin Road & Gateway Drive project information from Fiscal Year 2026 Budget (Project No. 24302)

Project Description:  This project will perform a signal justification report (SJR) to determine the type of improvements required for this intersection. Those improvements could consist of any of the following: leaving the intersection as-is, turn lanes, a roundabout, additional striping, or a traffic signal, depending on the outcome of the SJR.

Project Updates:  As of January 6, 2026  -  In November 2025 the Town Council authorized a task order for the replacement of the traffic signal at the intersection of Sycolin Road and Gateway Drive.   

Town staff has kicked off the design phase with the consultant and VDOT; and survey work is underway.
