South King Street and Route 7/15 Bypass Interchange Improvements
South King Street and Route 7/15 Bypass Interchange Improvements project information from Fiscal Year 2027 (Project No. 28303)
Project Start Date: TBD
Expected Completion Date: TBD
Project Manager: Doug Wagner 703-771-6671
Project Description: This project consists of preparation of an Interchange Access Report (IAR) to investigate potential improvements to the interchange, design plans and construction of improvements to the existing grade-separated interchange on South King Street and the Route 7/15 Bypass. The existing grade- separated interchange at this location is heavily congested and was built years ago and cannot handle current traffic volumes. South King Street and the Route 7/15 Bypass serve as major commuter routes and proposed development in the area will significantly increase traffic volumes at the interchange once constructed. This project is a included in the TransAction 2040 Plan. The project will enhance sustainability in the Town by providing additional sidewalk improvements to connect the newer communities to the southeast of the interchange to downtown.
Future funding is dependent on federal, state, and/or regional grants..
Project Updates: As of July 28, 2026 - Existing traffic data is currently being collected.
