Route 15 Bypass/Edwards Ferry Road Interchange
Route 15 Bypass/Edwards Ferry Road Interchange project information from Fiscal Year 2026 Budget (Project No. 09307)
Project Start Date: TBD
Estimated Completion Date: TBD
Project Manager: Renee LaFollette 703-737-6-71, Douglas Wagner 703-771-6671
Project Description: The project consists of the development of a new grade-separated interchange on Edwards Ferry Road at the Route 15 Leesburg Bypass and will include the intersection at Fort Evans Road. These two existing signalized at-grade intersections are heavily congested and have high accident rates. Route 15 Bypass serves as a major commuter route and there are numerous large retail developments in the area that generate significant traffic volumes. Currently large volumes of pedestrian traffic cross the bypass between the residential areas inside the bypass and the commercial development outside the bypass. Funding and schedule shown are contingent upon receipt of Federal Grant (INFRA/MEGA) or VDOT funding.
Project Updates: As of August 4, 2025 - 60% Field Inspection plans have been completed and the Town is looking for additional funding opportunities to progress this project.
