Project Start Date: Fall 2023
Estimated Completion Date: Ongoing
Project Manager: Christine Roe 571-919-1646
Project Description: This project includes resurfacing various playground surfaces around Town as well as replacing and adding equipment.
Project Updates: As of March 18, 2026 – Planned improvements will be scheduled for the following Town-owned playgrounds to enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall play experience for visitors.
- Foxridge Park Playground (525 Catoctin Circle, SW) - Improvements will include removing the existing two-bay swing set and installing a new two-bay structure with two belt seats and two infant seats. The current loose-fill playground surfacing and wood borders will be removed and replaced with new bonded rubber surfacing, which provides improved durability and accessibility. Kick mats will also be installed at the swing area and slide exit zones to help protect surfacing in high-use areas. In addition, a new wood border will be installed to define and contain the play surface. Installation is expected to take place between late spring and early summer 2026.
- Billy Cox Playground at Ida Lee Park (50 Ida Lee Drive, NW) – Improvements will include removing the existing two-bay swing set and replacing it with a new two-bay structure featuring two belt seats and two infant seats. At this location, the loose-fill surfacing and wood borders will be removed from the swing set area only and replaced with new bonded rubber surfacing and kick mats. A new wood border will also be installed to complete the upgraded swing area. Installation is anticipated between late spring and early summer 2026.
