Condo Hangar Replacement project information from Fiscal Year 2027 Budget (29002).

Project Description: As a result of the relocation of the airport's parallel taxiway to meet current FAA safety standards, two of the three condo hangars and one t-hangar will be demolished. The project will include the demolition of the remaining hangar to construct a new 17-unit T-hangar. The project will include drainage improvements, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management improvements, stormwater quality improvements, installation of stone base and asphalt which will  be funded with grants from the Virginia Department of Aviation. The project will also include construction of a new hangar building funded by the Town. The estimated start and completion schedule is contingent on receiving funding from the Virginia Department of Aviation (DOAV), who are anticipated to fund approximately 80% of the site development cost. This project will help to promote local businesses and airport users by supplying additional high demand hangar and tie-down space at the airport. This project will also promote sustainability by using LED lighting and water saving technology, providing accommodations for electric charging, and considering the inclusion of solar panels.
