Airport West Side Land Development - Access Road project information from Fiscal Year 2027 Budget (32010).

Project Description: This project will construct the access road to the west side of the airport. Access is needed along with the proposed west side parallel taxiway to provide access to facilitate the development and use of the west side of the airport. The project will include grading of the site with the placement of fill material and will involve the installation of the access road with curb and gutter, drainage improvements, and stormwater management. The project will also include the installation or accommodation for the desired utilities to facilitate future development of hangars and other businesses. The estimated start and completion schedule is contingent on receiving funding from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Virginia Department of Aviation (DOAV). This project will help to promote local businesses and airport users by supplying accessibility to additional high demand development space at the airport. This project will also promote sustainability by using LED lighting, and strive to use sustainable materials where possible, and limiting environmental impacts wherever possible (the project is anticipated to cross wooded areas, streams and wetlands and therefore will require a substantial environmental analysis).
