Project Description: The existing Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPIs) were installed in 2012 and include incandescent lights for operation. Replacement parts for older incandescent units are becoming more difficult to find and more costly to maintain. The proposed PAPI system will include the new LED technology and will replace aged wiring and will include any needed power supply upgrades. The estimated start and completion schedule is contingent on receiving funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Virginia Department of Aviation (DOAV), who are anticipated to fund approximately 98% of the site development cost. This project will a promote sustainability by using LED lighting to reduce energy use and minimize maintenance.
