Northern Virginia Projected to Start Phase 1 Reopening on May 29

While most of Virginia entered Phase 1 of Governor Northam's Forward Virginia plan for easing public health restrictions on Friday, May 15, Northern Virginia will not be entering Phase 1 until Friday, May 29. At this time, the Town of Leesburg is not anticipating any changes to town facilities and programs moving from the current situation into Phase 1.  For more information on the changes for businesses in Phase 1, please see the Phase 1 guidance from the governor's office.


Governor Northam Issues Mandatory Stay at Home Order Through June 10

On Monday, March 30, 2020, Governor Ralph Northam issued Executive Order Fifty-Five, expanding statewide restrictions. Residents are required to stay at home except when traveling to and from work, shopping for groceries and supplies, seeking medical care, and other essential activities. Gatherings of more than 10 people remain prohibited. The full list of restrictions is available on the Governor's website.


Town Council Adopts Continuity of Government Ordinance

At a special meeting on April 3, 2020, the Leesburg Town Council adopted a continuity of government ordinance. This ordinance outlines how the town government will operate under the current emergency to ensure that critical services continue to be provided. The full ordinance can be downloaded below:

Town of Leesburg Summer Camps Canceled

All 2020 Ida Lee summer classes and programs canceled as well.

Leesburg, VA (May 15, 2020) – The Town of Leesburg announced today that all summer camps offered by the town have been canceled for 2020, due to continuing concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.

The cancellations include all summer day camps at Ida Lee Park Recreation Center as well as the Kidsmart Safety Camp, Junior Police Camp, Virginia Rules Camp, and Camp Independence offered by the Leesburg Police Department. 

In addition, all 2020 summer classes and programs at Ida Lee Park Recreation Center have been canceled. Class registration was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 19.
