Town Plan Update Events in Downtown, Village at Leesburg, and Ida Lee Give Residents Opportunity to Provide Input
Public encouraged to stop by any time from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2019
Leesburg, VA (November 7, 2019) – As part of the six-day Town Plan Design Charrette that starts today, Town staff and consultant team members will be at three locations in town to gather additional input from the public about the future of Leesburg on Friday evening. Members of the public can stop by these “Pop-up Meetings” any time between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. to answer a few survey questions and to provide any other feedback on the Town Plan update they might have. Answering the questions should take approximately three to five minutes. The locations are:
- the former Leesburg Vintner store in downtown (29 South King St)
- Village at Leesburg storefront, next to Altar’d State (1604 Village Market Blvd SE, Suite 105)
- Ida Lee Park Recreation Center, main level (60 Ida Lee Dr NW)
“Knowing that coming to a public meeting is not convenient for everyone, we are taking the Town Plan Update process to them,” explained Susan BerryHill, Leesburg’s Director of Planning & Zoning. “Lots of people are downtown, at the Village, and at Ida Lee on Friday evenings, shopping, going out to eat, and working out, and we’re hoping to tap into that audience.”
Members of the public are also invited to stop by Ida Lee Park Recreation Center (lower level) over the weekend during the studio hours of the Town Plan Design Charrette. A full schedule showing all open hours and times for detailed discussions is available on the project website at legacy.leesburgva.gov.
The Leesburg Town Plan is a policy document that guides the future development of the Town. The current plan was adopted in June 2012. The Town has hired a team of consultants led by Stantec Architecture and City Explained, Inc. to produce a complete rewrite of the Town Plan. The project is expected to be completed in Summer 2020.
