Suspect Charged in Leesburg Robberies

Leesburg, VA – A suspect is in custody and is charged with both the attempted robbery of the Leesburg Best Western Hotel and the robbery of the Leesburg IHOP that occurred during the overnight hours of September 30, 2019 through October 1, 2019.

The suspect, James Earl Wiseman, 35, of no fixed address, was identified as the suspect with the assistance of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO).  The suspect was taken into custody in Lucketts, VA by LCSO on October 1, 2019, and held on a drunk in public charge.  The Leesburg Police Department has since charged Wiseman with one count of robbery and one count of attempted robbery.

The arrest comes after an attempted robbery on September 30, 2019, followed by a second attempted robbery on October 1, 2019.  The first incident occurred around 11:39 p.m. when the suspect entered the Leesburg Best Western Hotel.  In that case, the suspect implied that he had a weapon and demanded cash.  The suspect then fled the scene without taking anything.  The second incident occurred shortly after midnight, when the suspect entered the Leesburg IHOP, threatened employees, and demanded cash.  The suspect then fled the scene with currency from the business.  There were no reported injuries in either incident.

Wiseman remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
