Leesburg Residents Invited to Host Their Own Town Plan Conversations

“On the Table” discussions give residents an opportunity to provide feedback without having to attend a public meeting.

Leesburg, VA (October 8, 2019) – Hearing directly from residents about their ideas for the future of Leesburg is of vital importance to drafting a new Town Plan. Residents have a unique opportunity to provide feedback by hosting their own Town Plan conversations.

On the Table is an opportunity to gather over mealtime conversations to build personal connections and explore how residents can work together to make our community stronger. Residents can invite their families, neighbors, colleagues, and friends — old and new — to pull up a chair, share a meal or coffee, and discuss the ways in which they can, and do, work to improve quality of life in Leesburg.

On the Table hosts choose the date, the time, the place, and the guest list. No staff, no elected officials, no PowerPoint presentations. Just conversation. A host tool kit, available on the Legacy Leesburg website, includes conversation starters and topics of discussion. After the event, hosts will send a summary of the conversation back to the Town. The feedback received will be used to guide the work of a Town Plan charrette that begins on November 7, 2019.

For more information about hosting an On the Table event, visit https://legacy.leesburgva.govOn the Table discussions should be held and feedback returned to the Town no later than November 5, 2019.

The Leesburg Town Plan is a policy document that guides the future development of the Town. The current plan was adopted in June 2012. The Town has hired a team of consultants led by Stantec Architecture to produce a complete rewrite of the Town Plan. The project is expected to be completed in Summer 2020.
