Four New Officers Join the LPD Family

Leesburg, VA- On June 19, 2019, four new Leesburg Police Officers graduated from the 140th Session of the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy’s Basic Law Enforcement School. Officers Wesley Booth, Justin Roberts, Curstin Silby and Michael Tilley completed the 20-week program that covers all aspects of law enforcement principals and procedures.  In addition to successfully completing many challenging aspects of the law enforcement academy, Officer Roberts shared the top award for Emergency Vehicle Operations with Deputy Joseph Walker of the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office.

The graduation ceremony was held at George Mason University Center for the Arts Concert Hall in Fairfax, Virginia. Participating agencies of the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy include the Arlington County Police Department, Arlington County Sheriff’s Office, City of Alexandria Police Department, City of Alexandria Office Sheriff’s Office, City of Fairfax Police Department, George Mason University Police Department, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, City of Manassas Police Department, Manassas Park City Police Department, Metro Transit Police Department, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police, Northern Virginia Community College Police Department and the Town of Purcellville Police Department.

The new officers will now be placed into a structured 12-week training program with seasoned Field Training Officers. After successful completion of the Field Training Program, they will be certified for solo patrol.
