Leesburg Town Council Sets 2019 Personal Property Tax Rates

Leesburg, VA (February 13, 2019) – On Tuesday, February 12, 2019, the Leesburg Town Council adopted personal property tax rates for the 2019 tax year.

The 2019 tax rates are unchanged from 2018 and include:

  • Motor vehicles: $1.00 per $100 of assessed value
  • Aircraft:  $0.001 per $100 of assessed value
  • Tangible business personal property: $1.00 per $100 of assessed value

The Loudoun County Commissioner of the Revenue assesses the value of personal property within the Town of Leesburg and provides assessment data to the Town. The Commonwealth of Virginia provides personal property tax relief equal to 50% of taxes owed on the first $20,000 assessed value of qualified personal use vehicles.

The Town Council also adopted the tax rate for bank capital at $0.80 per $100 of net capital held by banks located in the Town.
