Ida Lee Main Indoor Pool Reopening Delayed to Monday, March 5
Due to the March 2 windstorm damage, there is no power at Ida Lee Park Recreation Center. As a result, the reopening of the main pool has been pushed back to Monday, March 5, 2018. If power is not restored by noon on Saturday, March 3, the pool reopening may be delayed further.
Leesburg, VA (March 1, 2018) – Repairs to the drain vaults in the deep end of the main indoor pool at Ida Lee Park Recreation Center have been completed and the pool will reopen on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at 8:00 a.m.
On Wednesday, February 7, staff discovered that the fiberglass lining of one of the pool’s three drain vaults was cracked and leaking. Engineering analysis determined that the leak did not cause significant erosion under the pool shell or any structural damage to the pool. As a precaution against similar problems with the other two drain vaults, all three vaults were reinforced with rebar, encased in new concrete, and covered with a new plaster coating.
