Leesburg Police Investigate KKK Fliers Found Outside Homes
Leesburg, VA (January 13, 2018) - Leesburg Police are investigating several incidents involving propaganda fliers being distributed by individuals claiming to be Ku Klux Klan (KKK) members throughout the NE quadrant of Town.
On January 12th, shortly after 10:00 p.m., Leesburg Police received the first report of suspicious fliers found outside of a home in the 700 block of Aurora Court NE.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the fliers appear to contain propaganda material and were most likely distributed due to the close proximity of the day the nation honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.
While all these incidents are taken very seriously, at this time, the material appears to have been distributed randomly and was not specifically targeting any particular individual(s).
As with previous incidents involving similar fliers, Leesburg Police Department investigators will work with local, state and federal partners to identify any potential threats to the community.
Anyone with any information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Leesburg Police Department at 703-771-4500.
