New Eric Brown Skate Plaza at Catoctin Park To Be Dedicated on Saturday, May 27, 2017
New state-of-the-art all-concrete skate plaza replaces the original Catoctin SkatePark that opened in 1998.
Leesburg, VA (May 12, 2017) – On Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 9:00 a.m., Mayor Kelly Burk will officially dedicate the new Eric Brown Skate Plaza at Catoctin Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The new skate plaza is named in honor of skating enthusiast and park supporter Eric Brown who, as a teenager, was instrumental in the creation of the original Catoctin SkatePark in 1998. Immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony, the skate plaza will be opened for public use.
The new concrete skate plaza is approximately 12,000 square feet and features a bowl, vertical wall and street elements. The park will be open from dawn to dusk and will be self-monitored by users. Helmets are required and bike pegs are not allowed.
