Leesburg Police Department Offers Child Safety Seat Inspections ***EVENT CANCELED***
***EVENT CANCELED DUE TO ANTICIPATED INCLEMENT WEATHER***
The Leesburg Police Department will conduct a Child Safety Seat Check this Friday, April 21st at COSTCO, 1300 Edwards Ferry Road NE, Leesburg, VA. Certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to check car seats for proper installation and to offer advice to parents and caregivers on how to choose the right car seats and install them properly in their vehicles.
This is the eighth year in a row that the Leesburg COSTCO has hosted a child safety seat event. The Leesburg Police Department appreciates COSTCO’s support to promote the proper use of child safety seats and keep children safe while riding in cars.
The Leesburg Police Department urges parents to follow the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) car seat recommendations that advise parents and caregivers to keep children in their restraint types for as long as possible according to manufacturer instructions before moving them to the next type. For maximum safety, parents or caregivers should have car seat installations inspected by a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician to ensure their children are in the right seats for their ages and sizes.
