Leesburg, VA (September 1, 2026) – The public is invited to a preconstruction community meeting for the upcoming Evergreen Mill Road Widening Project. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, in the Council Chamber at Leesburg Town Hall (25 West Market Street).

Residents are invited to attend to learn more about the project, upcoming construction activities, anticipated impacts, and the project schedule. Members of the Town’s Capital Projects Team and the contractor will be present to provide information and answer questions.

In preparation for the start of construction on the Evergreen Mill Road Widening Project, the contractor has begun installing safety fencing, tree protection fencing, and temporary construction signage along the project corridor. Survey work will also commence this week. With the exception of the preliminary activities specified above, construction activities are tentatively scheduled to begin on or about  September 21.

Adverse weather or field conditions may require adjustments to the construction start date. Any changes to the schedule will be communicated through news releases, the Town’s social media channels, and posted on the Town website, www.leesburgva.gov.

The Evergreen Mill Road Widening Project will expand approximately 1.3 miles of Evergreen Mill Road, from the Heritage High School entrance south of Battlefield Parkway to South King Street. The existing two-lane roadway will be widened to four lanes and include a sidewalk on one side and a shared-use path on the other. The project also includes curb and gutter installation and storm drainage improvements.
