Leesburg, VA (August 27, 2026) – The Leesburg Town Council has adopted its 2027 Legislative Program for next year’s Virginia General Assembly Session.

The adopted Legislative Program includes Council legislative priorities, including the repeal of legislation that prevents the Town from requiring disclosures for real estate purchased within a one-mile perimeter of Leesburg Executive Airport; more authority for local governments to regulate short-term residential rentals; and a request for the state to create a work group to study the increase in accidents related to the use of e-bikes and e-scooters to identify ways to improve safety.

The Council is also requesting funding support from the Commonwealth to cover the costs of renting the temporary air traffic control trailer while the Town works with the Federal Aviation Administration to construct a permanent tower.

The Legislative Program also includes the Town’s position statements and legislative priorities in several focus areas, including land use, the environment, public safety, and utilities.
