Leesburg, VA (August 24, 2026) – Town staff will participate in a full-scale emergency training exercise on Tuesday, August 25, and Wednesday, August 26, at Leesburg Executive Airport and Ida Lee Park, respectively.
Services at Leesburg Executive Airport will not be impacted by the exercise. Ida Lee Park’s Festival Field and Community Garden will be closed to the public during the exercise on August 26. Both will reopen for public use by midday. All other facilities at Ida Lee Park, including Ida Lee Park Recreation Center and Ida Lee Tennis Center, will have normal operating hours.
The emergency exercise will involve the use of simunitions, which may produce loud sounds. Multiple public safety agencies will be participating in the exercise, resulting in a significant presence of emergency personnel and vehicles in the area on both days. The public and members of the media are asked to avoid the exercise area while training is underway.

This training gives our employees the tools and experience they need to respond confidently, protect public safety, and keep critical operations running during emergencies or unplanned events,” stated Emergency Management & Security Coordinator Amy Cornell-Titcomb. “We appreciate the public’s understanding as we take these two days to focus on refining our emergency management capabilities."
