ECHO Celebrates Launch of New Coffee Roasting Enterprise
Located at 71 Lawson Road SE, ECHO supports participants in living their optimal lives through job placement, skills training, social engagement, community opportunities, and day support programs. The recent expansion includes ECHO Coffee Roasters, an idea first conceptualized nearly two years ago. The venture became possible through the generous support of The Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, 100Women Strong, KOVAR, and Toth Financial.
“The launch of ECHO Coffee Roasters represents another important step in fulfilling our mission of Empowering Individuals for Life,” said Chief Executive Officer Paul Donohue, Jr. “This enterprise provides the people we support with opportunities to develop valuable workforce skills, build confidence, and experience the dignity and purpose that come with meaningful employment. At the same time, it allows ECHO to offer the community another high-quality product that directly supports our mission.
Over the past six months, the ECHO team has worked hard to develop ECHO Coffee Roasters’ signature blend, carefully selecting and combining beans sourced from around the world to create an exceptional product right here at ECHO.
“After six months of developing and tasting coffee, we are extremely proud of the product we have created,” Donohue, Jr. said. “We are excited to see ECHO Coffee Roasters grow, to watch the individuals we support develop new skills and thrive in their roles, and to share the story—and the impact—of this enterprise with the community.”
Donohue, Jr. added that it can sometimes be challenging to find meaningful employment opportunities that align with each participant’s interests, strengths, and abilities. Coffee production offers a wide range of tasks—including blending, roasting, packaging, labeling, and order fulfillment—that create an environment where many of the individuals at ECHO can learn, contribute, and thrive.
“We are proud to offer an outstanding locally roasted coffee to customers throughout Loudoun County and beyond. Just as importantly, ECHO Coffee Roasters gives us another opportunity to showcase the talents and capabilities of people with disabilities when they are provided with the right opportunities and support.”
