Leesburg, VA (August 3, 2026) – The Performing Arts Commission (PAC) will host the concert event Music George Washington Heard on Saturday, August 15, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at St. James’ Episcopal Church (8 Cornwall Street NW, Leesburg).

The event coincides with the yearlong celebration of the 250^th anniversary of American independence. Music George Washington Heard will feature classical or folk music from the late 18^th century when the former president was alive. Performing at the event will be the Leesburg Violin Studio and guitarist Kareem McCullough. Colonial reenactors will also be present to interact with and answer questions from guests.  

The event is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Steven Cooksey, the late organist and choir master who served St. James for over 42 years and whose vision it was to hold this event at the church. Mayor Kelly Burk will be present at the concert to read a proclamation dedicating the event to Dr. Cooksey.
