Sterling Carpet Shops, Inc. Celebrates 50 Years of Business
Located at 940 Sycolin Road SE, Suite 155, Sterling Carpet has continued to grow since the company was founded in Sterling in 1976.
It began as a small warehouse before expanding to two showrooms, opening its second location in Leesburg's Virginia Village Shopping Center in 1978.
President Kevin Lester recently discovered the original 1978 lease agreement just the other day.
“I was born and raised in Loudoun County, and I am happy to be part of the community,” Lester said, adding that the celebration is quite humbling. Being a small business owner means you have to pivot once in a while to accommodate economic and business strategies and that’s exactly what they’ve done.
“In this industry we need to keep up with the ever-changing trends, styles, and colors. Always sourcing and showcasing new products is a rewarding challenge,” Lester said.
By consolidating its showrooms, custom rug and stair runner fabrication, and warehousing under one roof, the company has streamlined its operations while enhancing the customer experience. The combined facility features the area's largest flooring showroom, showcasing on-trend materials and new designer options.
Sterling Carpet Shops also offers a "Shop at Home" service through a mobile showroom, allowing customers to view flooring samples in their own homes.
