Leesburg, VA (July 3, 2026) – The Town of Leesburg has cancelled the annual Independence Day Parade due to extreme heat in the forecast for Saturday, July 4. The parade will not be rescheduled.
The evening concert and fireworks at Ida Lee Park will proceed with a modified start time. Gates at Ida Lee Park will open at 7:00 p.m., with the concert beginning an hour later than originally scheduled at 7:30 p.m. The fireworks are still scheduled for 9:30 p.m. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts traveling museum will be open to the public from 7:00 to 9:15 p.m.
Any further changes to the July 4 schedule due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances will be communicated via news release; posted on the Town of Leesburg, Virginia, Facebook page; and sent to subscribers to July 4 text alerts. For the most up-to-date information, residents are encouraged to text “Leesburg4th” to 888777 to receive real-time updates regarding street closures, event activities, weather updates, and more.
“We regret that we have to cancel the Independence Day Parade and understand this decision will be disappointing to many in our community,” stated Parks & Recreation Department Director Rich Williams. “However, we have to keep in mind the safety of the public and our staff who are working during these events. We are looking forward to putting on a wonderful concert and fireworks show in the evening.”
