Leesburg Welcomes The Gothicary, a New Destination for Unique Gifts

The Gothicary Ribbon CuttingLeesburg, VA (June 29, 2026) – A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Saturday, June 27, to celebrate the grand opening of The Gothicary, a new specialty gift boutique in downtown Leesburg.

Located at 217 Loudoun Street SE, The Gothicary was created by artist and maker Rachel Topper and offers a curated collection of gothic, alternative, and apothecary-inspired gifts. 

The shop features handmade and specialty items including candles, bath and body products, home fragrance, tarot and oracle items, journals, accessories, novelty gifts, and other uniquely themed merchandise.

Topper said opening a brick-and-mortar location had always been a long-term goal, but it was not something she expected to pursue this year. When the opportunity to open a storefront became available, she knew it was the right fit. Since opening, she said the response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with customers returning to the shop and bringing friends from as far away as Maryland and West Virginia.

“The response has been amazing,” said Topper. “Leesburg is amazing. There are so many people to meet, so many quick jaunts for lunch and coffee, and the out-of-town visitors make it the perfect location for The Gothicary.”

Among the shop’s most popular items are specialty goddess candles, body oils, lip glosses, and “super cheeky” stickers, magnets, and tote bags. Topper said Alice in Wonderland-themed merchandise has also been a customer favorite, with items including mugs, teapots, pocket watches, and copies of the classic book.
