Leesburg, VA (June 1, 2026) – Mayor Kelly Burk, Council Members Neil Steinberg and Zach Cummings, members of the Town’s Capital Projects staff, and residents cut the ceremonial ribbon marking the completion of the
Morven Park Road Sidewalk project during a brief ceremony Friday, May 29.
Construction on the sidewalk project began October 2024. The completed project extends the sidewalk along the west side of Morven Park Road to provide continuous pedestrian access between West Market Street and Old Waterford Road. The project also includes drainage improvements by completing the curb and gutter on both sides of the street and extending the storm drain system. The sidewalk project was initiated over 15 years ago in response to resident concerns about pedestrian safety.
“The completion of this project is a direct result of the advocacy and persistence of local residents. This will not only be an important quality-of-life enhancement for this neighborhood, but connecting to the existing sidewalks along West Market Street and Old Waterford Road will provide more convenient access to two of Leesburg’s biggest assets—our historic downtown and Ida Lee Park,” stated Mayor Kelly Burk.
