Hometown Hero Banners on Display at Freedom Park

Post Date:05/25/2026 10:10 AM
Two Hometown Hero Banners Side by SideLeesburg, VA (May 25, 2026) – Hometown Hero banners are now on display at Freedom Park, honoring local veterans for their military service.

In 2023, the Town partnered with the Loudoun County Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #1177 to launch the banner program. The local post oversees the initiative, which is also active in several Virginia localities and other states.

Forty-six patriotic banners pay tribute to Leesburg and Loudoun County residents who have served, or are currently serving, in the United States Armed Forces. Each 24” x 48” banner displays the name and likeness of a current or former member of the military who is currently serving, honorably discharged, retired, or deceased.

The annual display can be viewed during normal park hours at Freedom Park, located at 101 Colonel Grenata Circle. The park is also home to the Town’s Freedom Memorial, which is dedicated to those who lost their lives during 9/11 and commemorates other historic dates in our country’s fight for freedom.

For more information on the program, email the VFW at info@vfw1177.org. The Leesburg program can also be found on the Military Tribute Banners website.
