Leesburg, VA (May 15, 2026) – Single-lane closures will occur in the overnight hours beginning Sunday, May 17, for gas line relocation at the intersection of Evergreen Mill Road and South King Street. 

The work is part of the Evergreen Mill Road Widening Project, expected to begin construction this summer.

Single-lane closures will occur in the Evergreen Mill/South King Street intersection intermittently during the overnight hours. On Sundays, work will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. the following morning. From Monday through Thursday, work hours will be from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. No work or lane closures will be in effect on Friday or Saturday evenings, nor through Memorial Day weekend (May 22–25).

Both directions of travel will be maintained with no detours required. Please be aware of temporary delays due to lane closures and follow the direction of the flaggers working in the area.

Adverse weather or field conditions may require adjustments to the work schedule. Any changes to the work schedule will be communicated via news release, Town social media channels, and posted on the Town website, www.leesburgva.gov.

The Evergreen Mill Road Widening project provides for the widening of approximately 1.3 miles of Evergreen Mill Road from the Heritage High School entrance south of Battlefield Parkway to South King Street. The existing two-lane road will be widened to a four-lane road with sidewalk on one side and a shared use path on the other side.
