Leesburg, VA (May 12, 2026) – The Town of Leesburg’s Public Works Department will host a free community document shredding event from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Heritage High School, 520 Evergreen Mills Road, SE.

Town residents may bring up to three (3) boxes or bags of documents, each equivalent in size to a standard file storage box. The Town of Leesburg will not shred documents for businesses, even if documents are delivered by an employee who is a Town resident.

Please note, if all shredding vehicles fill, the event will close early.

Non-perishable food items will also be collected during the event for Loudoun Hunger Relief.

Every year, millions of Americans become the victims of identity theft. Documents with sensitive information tossed into trash cans, recycling containers, and public disposal locations are among the most common sources of information used by identity thieves. Typically, during a four-hour event, nearly 10,000 pounds of documents will be shredded on-site by portable shredding units and then recycled.
