Leesburg Police Arrest Wanted Subject Following Assault on Officer

Leesburg, VA (May 4, 2026) – The Leesburg Police Department arrested a wanted individual after he fled from officers and assaulted a police officer during an incident at a residence in town.

Officers responded to the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Rd NE regarding a report of a subject banging on a residence's door. Upon arrival, officers identified the individual as Ervin P. Lansdown Jr., 37, of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, who was wanted out of Pennsylvania for a probation violation.

When officers approached, Lansdown fled on foot. Officers apprehended Lansdown after a brief pursuit. During the arrest, the subject actively resisted and assaulted an officer. The officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his minor injuries and has since been released.

Lansdown was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with:
• Assault on Law Enforcement 
• Fleeing from Law Enforcement 

He was also served with a probation violation warrant from another jurisdiction and is being held without bond.
