Leesburg, VA (April 27, 2026) – Leesburg Women in Government will host a free self-defense class on Saturday, May 30, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Mastery Jiu Jitsu (161 Fort Evans Road NE, Suite 135).

The free class is open to the public and is geared towards women and girls aged 12 and up. No experience is necessary, but an RSVP is required as space is limited. The class will teach practical techniques to escape attackers and build confidence in a safe and supportive environment.

"A central mission of the Women in Government initiative is to empower women and girls in our community, and the importance of learning how to be vigilant and protect yourself cannot be over-emphasized. This is a great class for mothers and daughters to take together. Bring your sisters, friends, and work colleagues to learn how to protect yourselves," Mayor Kelly Burk stated.
