Leesburg Tree Commission to Host Two Tree Giveaways
Residents will have two opportunities to receive a free, native tree to plant at their home.
Residents are invited to stop by the tree commission booth on East Market St.—located next to the post office at 15 E Market Street—to pick up a free Eastern Redbud or Chestnut Oak seedling, while supplies last. Four potted Redbuds will also be raffled off.
In addition, the commission will distribute free trees during its annual Treesburg Initiative giveaway on Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents will have the opportunity to receive a free, potted tree, from the event parking lot at Ida Lee Park.
Available species include sugar maple, river birch, hornbeam, hickory, redbud, American persimmon, American holly, white oak, willow oak, and blackhaw viburnum. Planting and care instructions will be provided along with information on how to share their tree planting efforts online.
