Leesburg, VA (April 8, 2026) – The public is invited to share feedback on the Town’s draft Zoning Ordinance Rewrite during a public hearing scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in Town Hall Council Chamber (25 West Market Street, Leesburg). The public hearing will be held during the Planning Commission’s regularly scheduled meeting.
The Planning Commission is concluding its review of the draft Zoning Ordinance Rewrite, a process that began in October 2023. As the Zoning Ordinance was last comprehensively updated in 2003, the purpose of the rewrite is to update the ordinance as a whole, implement new Town Plan policies, streamline processes, and make the ordinance more user friendly. The rewrite includes enhanced illustrations and simplified tables to improve clarity and usability.
Throughout the process, the Town has engaged the community through stakeholder meetings, public open houses, and opportunities for online feedback. Since the first draft was released in March 2025, the Planning Commission has been reviewing the draft article by article and has now completed its review.
The Town Council is expected to begin its review of the draft Zoning Ordinance Rewrite this summer, with adoption anticipated by the end of the calendar year. A subsequent public hearing will be scheduled at a Town Council meeting before the revised Zoning Ordinance can be adopted.
