Swing Set Improvements at Ida Lee Park to Begin Monday, April 6

Post Date:04/02/2026 12:18 PM
Billy Cox Swing SetLeesburg, VA (April 2, 2026) – The Town of Leesburg’s Parks and Recreation Department will begin improvements to the swing set at the Billy Cox Playground in Ida Lee Park on Monday, April 6. The playground is located next to Rust Library (380 Old Waterford Road NW), within Ida Lee Park (60 Ida Lee Drive NW).

The planned improvements include the removal and replacement of the existing two-bay swing set, along with updated site features. The current mulch surfacing will be replaced with a bonded rubber surface, designed to improve safety, accessibility, and overall play experience. New timber borders will also be installed to frame the upgraded play area.

To ensure public safety and provide a secure work environment for contractors, the swing set area will be temporarily closed during construction. It is expected to be reopen by Monday, April 13.

Other amenities including the large playground area and Billy Cox Pavilion will remain open for public use. Visitors are asked to remain mindful of construction fencing and posted closure signs throughout the duration of the project.
