"The Revolution on Screen" Film Discussion Series Begins March 17

Post Date:03/10/2026 2:00 PM

Leesburg, VA (March 10, 2026) - Thomas Balch Library will launch “The Revolution on Screen,” a film‑discussion series exploring how the American Revolution has been portrayed in movies and Revolution on Screen television.

The program will take place on the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s lower-level meeting room. The inaugural meeting will be held on March 17.

The Revolution on Screen is a fun way to explore history and film together. Participants are invited to view the selected movie or TV episode on their own time ahead of each meeting. Then, during each session, a local guest historian will lead a lively conversation about the featured title—complete with short video clips, fun historical tidbits, and surprising insights into how the Revolution gets retold on screen. Afterward, everyone jumps into an open, friendly discussion.

The first discussion on March 17 will be on Disney’s 1953 film “Ben and Me.” Thomas Balch Library Director Laura Christiansen will lead the conversation.
