Leesburg, VA (November 26, 2025) - Thomas Balch Library will host an evening program with Donn Dobkin, an award-winning professional photographer and Leesburg resident, on Thursday, December 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the library (208 West Market Street). The event will feature his newest publication, Wild Goose: A Book of Suburban Wonder, a photographic study of the remarkable wildlife that thrives along the Potomac Heritage Trail in Lansdowne.
Wild Goose: A Book of Suburban Wonder explores a three-mile stretch of forestland bordering Goose Creek that sits discreetly between neighborhoods and golf courses. Within this seemingly ordinary fringe of suburbia, Dobkin documented an impressive variety of wild “neighbors,” pairing images with brief narratives that reveal a world often hidden at the edge of our awareness.
Dobkin is a full-time photographer with an extensive record of editorial, wildlife, and fine artwork. His images have been exhibited in galleries from San Francisco to Northern Virginia, published in books, magazines, and newspapers, and collected nationwide. Artistically, his photographs emphasize strong graphic elements and a sense of intimacy with the subject, inviting emotional connection between viewer and scene. In addition to Wild Goose: A Book of Suburban Wonder, he has authored three other books of photography. Visit
